Verified anti-Trump personalities on social media are rushing to defend General Mark Milley as some sort of hero following reports that he promised to alert China to a potential military attack ahead of time if President Donald Trump went “rogue.”
Milley, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was reportedly so “shaken” by the former President’s mental state that he feared Trump might go “rogue” and engage in a military or nuclear attack against China.
The General, according to a new book titled, Peril, assured General Li Zuocheng of the People’s Liberation Army of China that the United States military would not strike, despite any orders Trump might give.
Perhaps most astonishing is a quote provided by the Washington Post which shows Milley was willing to warn China if an attack was in the works.
“General Li, you and I have known each other for now five years. If we’re going to attack, I’m going to call you ahead of time,” Milley allegedly said.
“It’s not going to be a surprise.”
Wait a sec. Milley told his Chinese counterpart he would warn him of a pending attack? Wow.

How Bad Were Milley’s Actions?
A senior national security official for the Trump administration told CNN political analyst Josh Rogin that Milley’s actions “could have caused the Chinese to miscalculate and take some sort of diplomatic, economic or military action with far-ranging consequences.”
In other words, he could have started an actual war and an attack on the American people.
Worse, if the former President determined he had to take military action to stop China, according to the accusations, Milley would have warned the enemy.
Trump, for his part, has said the actions taken by Milley, if true, amount to treason.

Even resistance hero U.S. Army Lt. Colonel Alexander Vindman stepped out of his liberal hero-worship bubble long enough to point out that Milley’s actions, should they be proven true, established an “extremely dangerous precedent.”
“If this is true [General] Milley must resign,” Vindman tweeted.
“He usurped civilian authority, broke Chain of Command, and violated the sacrosanct principle of civilian control over the military,” he added. “It’s an extremely dangerous precedent. You can’t simply walk away from that.”

Liberals Rush To Milley’s Defense
Not everyone shares Trump’s view that Milley’s actions bordered on treason, or even Vindman’s view that he committed an egregious chain of command violation.
In fact, they’re propping him up as some sort of American hero.
What’s amazing is that CNN is covering General Milley’s treason as if he did the right thing.
This is actual treason.
And CNN is acting like Milley is a hero. https://t.co/7gxFf8YlfH

NBC News analyst Howard Fineman described Milley as a “brave man who saved us from nukes.”
#Woodward: Worried #Trump could go rogue, Milley took action to protect nuclear weapons—CNN. So: Milley made a file for Woodward to show that he, Milley, was the brave man who saved us from nukes, not the yes man who marched with Trump to #LafayettePark. https://t.co/Ydc2zxfhEz

Joe Walsh, a former ‘candidate’ for President and anti-Trump convert, said he didn’t like what Milley allegedly did, but the ends justify the means.
Walsh said he’s “damn glad [Milley] did what he did” and he “will defend what he did.”
If you look at the replies to Walsh’s tweet, there are hundreds of Democrats praising Milley’s actions.
I don’t like what General Milley did. I’m troubled by what he did. But I’m damn glad he did what he did. And I will defend what he did.

Bloomberg Opinion writer Tim O’Brien said he’s “glad Milley took the steps he did.”
I’m glad Milley took the steps he did, and I honor his military service. But the fact that he had to maneuver around Trump demonstrates how broken things are. We shouldn’t rely on rogue generals reining in rogue presidents. My column: https://t.co/iEcRzmHlvw

So devastated by Trump that they’re unwilling to break character and admit that Milley’s reported actions are tantamount to treason.
So broken by Trump that they stand proudly behind a possible traitor.
The most amazing part of the Milley news is that Milley almost certainly thought, probably correctly, that he would be treated as a hero by the media elite for his actions.

Can you imagine if the Chief of Staff to the Commander-in-Chief William D. Leahy, in 1945, went ahead and assured Japan that he would let them know if President Harry Truman had gone “rogue” and was about to drop an atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki?
