Tim Allen, who has long been one of the few outspoken conservative Christian stars in Hollywood, has offered his support for Zachery Ty Bryan, who played his oldest son on “Home Improvement” from 1991 until it went off the air in 1999.
Home Improvement is an American television sitcom that aired on ABC from September 17, 1991 to May 25, 1999. It stars Tim Allen, Patricia Richardson, Earl Hindman, Taran Noah Smith, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Zachery Ty Bryan, Richard Karn, and Debbe Dunning. pic.twitter.com/GDqq4lkjwS

Allen Defends TV Son
USA Today reported that Bryan, 41, was arrested on domestic violence charges back in 2020, and he has since been accused of taking part in an alleged cryptocurrency scheme to steal money. Despite this, Allen isn’t turning his back on his TV son just yet.
“I don’t know what’s going on with him,” Allen, 70, told The Hollywood Reporter. “Zach is a great kid who has grown into a complex man. All you can do is step aside and let somebody go through their process.”
“At a certain point, he deviated from the guy I know to somebody who is reacting to situations that I had nothing to do with and can’t control,” he continued. “I don’t know what happens when people get corrupted. You just don’t know.”
Even though the accusations that Bryan has been hit with are serious, Allen still has faith in him.
“I know Zach’s heart,” Allen added. “He’s got to figure out his own way.”

Allen’s History – Political Views
Allen knows a thing or two about how one can be redeemed after a criminal history. In his early 20s, Allen served two years in prison for cocaine possession before turning his life around and becoming a superstar in the world of comedy, starring in “Home Improvement,” “Last Man Standing,” and The Santa Clause movies, among other successful projects.
“I just shut up and did what I was told,” Allen told THR of his time in prison back in 2021. “It was the first time ever I did what I was told and played the game. I learned literally how to live day by day. And I learned how to shut up. You definitely want to learn how to shut up.”

Describing himself as a “fiscal conservative,” Allen hasn’t been afraid to back down from his rightwing views.
“I literally don’t preach anything,” he said in that same interview. “What I’ve done is just not joined into, as I call it, the ‘we culture.’ I’m not telling anybody else how to live. I don’t like that, ‘We should do this’ or, ‘We should do that.’”
“Once I realized that the last president pissed people off, I kind of liked that,” he added, referring to Donald Trump. “So it was fun to just not say anything. Didn’t join in the lynching crowd.”

Allen ‘Never Liked Taxes’
Allen further opened up about his political beliefs in a 2018 interview with Entertainment Weekly.
“My political party is that I’ve never liked taxes, period, so whatever that means,” Allen said. “I don’t like paying people who never seem to do what I would do with my money.”
“I always thought it would be funny if I had a little menu on my tax returns where I could tell them where my money would go,” he continued.

Unlike the vast majority of the liberal sheep in Hollywood, Allen is clearly someone who can think for himself, so it comes as no surprise that he isn’t turning his back on his former TV son Bryan yet. Regardless of what happens with Bryan’s case, we applaud Allen for staying loyal and not doing the typical Hollywood move of immediately dropping someone at the first sign of trouble.
