Ever since President-elect Donald J. Trump nominated Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions to be his Attorney General, the Democrats and their allies in the liberal media allies have been doing everything in their power to derail his nomination.
From falsely claiming he is a supporter of the KKK to being weak on voting rights, the left has been engaged in an all-out smear campaign against Senator Sessions, but one prominent African-American is coming to his defense.
Condoleeza Rice, who served as Secretary of State for President George W. Bush, has officially endorsed Jeff Sessions to serve as America’s next Attorney General.
Rice, like Sessions, is from Alabama, and wrote a letter to Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley offering her support for Trump’s nominee. Rice called Sessions a “friend” and someone she admired “greatly.”
The former Bush official explained that Sessions was a “man who is committed to justice and knows that law and order are necessary to guarantee freedom and liberty.”

From CNN:
Rice, the first African-American woman to serve as secretary of state, also said that Sessions has worked hard to heal the wounds in Alabama brought on by the “prejudice and injustice against the descendents of slaves.”
Rice’s endorsement of Sessions could help Sessions gain the support he needs from the Senate as his confirmation hearings begin Tuesday. Sessions, who was the first US senator to endorse Trump, will likely be dogged by old allegations of racism during his hearings.
She noted Sessions spearheaded the effort to award the Congressional Gold Medal to one of her “personal heroes,” Rosa Parks.
“I know that Sen. Sessions will uphold the laws of our great country and will work to ensure that every person here in the United States is given the voice that is deserved,” she wrote.
Despite liberal objections to Senator Sessions’ nomination, his distinguished career in government and his close relationships with his fellow members of Congress shouldn’t derail his confirmation.
Senators like New York’s Chuck Schumer have promised to delay multiple Trump nominees until more information about them is provided, but given that the Republicans have a majority in the Senate, any Democrat efforts to blow the president-elect’s nominees will likely be short-lived.
