The City of College Park, Maryland, will hold a council vote on August 8th to determine if non-citizens – including illegal immigrants – will be able to vote in local elections.
During a council meeting on June 7th, officials debated the best manner in which to eliminate the citizenship requirement to vote.
In discussing another municipality, one council member said College Park should follow suit.
“They do not ask and do not care if the resident is in their city legally or not,” they claimed.

College Park’s mayor and council are considering a move to allow residents who are not United States citizens to vote in local elections.
The move would require change the city’s charter amendment, but College Park would not be alone in allowing noncitizens to vote in municipal elections. Other Maryland municipalities that allow residents who are not citizens to vote include Takoma Park, Hyattsville, Somerset, Glen Echo, Martin’s Additions and most recently, Mt. Rainier.
College Park, sadly, is becoming more the norm than the exception in the state of Maryland.
As previously mentioned, numerous other cities and towns in Maryland have done away with citizenship requirements for voting.
An election integrity watchdog group discovered instances of “massive and ongoing fraudulent voting by non-U.S. citizens” in Frederick County in 2014.
The group alleged that the manner in which these illegal votes were cast was something that likely happened throughout the state, and believed it had been occurring for years.

One citizen of College Park, Laurence Provost, said he opposes the new measure to allow non-citizens to vote in municipal elections.

Local and state governments have the legal ability to allow whomever they want to vote, be issued a driver license, collect welfare.etc. The problem would come if a voter registration card allowed anyone in possession of one the ability to vote in a federal election. The local registration documentation needs to be annotated as to the highest level of voting allowed, so the local registration could not lead to federal voting fraud. Let me further say that illegal immigrants in many states are allowed to vote, but overall, the Sentencing Project estimates that roughly 5.85 million otherwise eligible Americans can’t cast a ballot due to a former felony*.

If you want to uphold the law and believe the Constitution of the USA: Whether you can vote​ or not depends upon your immigration status. If you are a naturalized U.S. citizen, you have the same voting privileges as a natural-born citizen and you may vote in any election as long as you meet the other qualifications, which generally include:

It sounds like another way of saying that black people are either too lazy or too stupid to get a photo ID and therefore it is discrimination to require them to have one. I would agree with allowing illegals to vote PROVIDED that they be incarcerated or deported the moment they register. The same applies to Driver’s Licences, etc.

I’m pretty sure that these ordinances are unconstitutional, being violative of the XV Amendment, and illegal, being violative of the Voting Rights Act. Moreover, they localities do not have the delegated authority to permit voting beyond what is permitted by the Maryland Legislature. Finally, it is a logistical nightmare, since these actions cannot possibly widen the franchise in state elections or federal elections.

The officials should be arrested and charged with voter fraud, and violation of their oath of office. It is about time DOJ moved in and cleaned up the illegal voting situation in many places.
A city may create its own criteria for voting (as long as it doesn’t discriminate against race, medical disability, adult age, annual income) but how do these cities intend to ensure only US citizens vote the federal portion of their ballots. Federal law requires a voter in federal elections to be a bona-fide citizen of the US and I think it should stay that way, that is the “skin in the game” we require to help keep voters thinking of the national interest instead of just taking a bribe to vote knowing he/she won’t be here for a long time anyway (most non-citizens don’t intend to stay and make their home here at least semi-permanently). Illegals shouldn’t be here in the first place and should not be allowed to influence national policy in any way including voting.
As for Maryland state elections, I don’t know if citizenship is a criterion for voting. Hopefully only citizens may vote in state elections but that is their voter representatives and voters decision, not mine.

They continually scream about voter ID being racist even though voter ID laws *equally* require *everyone* to show photo ID. It sounds like another way of saying that black people are either too lazy or too stupid to get a photo ID and therefore it is discrimination to require them to have one. At the end of the day without an ID they wouldn’t be able to drive, cash checks, open bank accounts, buy alcohol, buy cigarettes, buy guns, board planes and some other public transport etc. Yet somehow it is totally unreasonable and discriminatory to ask for ID to vote. Even countries like India have voter ID to help protect the integrity of elections, one person, one vote (as long as you are a US citizen of course)

It is against Federal Law to vote if you are a citizen of another country. Arrest the Mayors and they might change their tune. This is why Trump didn’t win the popular vote. Luckily, he still won the election.
I would agree with allowing illegals to vote PROVIDED that they be incarcerated or deported the moment they register. The same applies to Driver’s Licences, etc.
