A shock announcement this morning for the millions of fans of Chip and Joanna Gaines. Their hit HGTV show “Fixer Upper,” which is based in Waco, Texas, will soon be ending!
As they wrote on their show’s blog: “It is with both sadness and expectation that we share the news that season 5 of Fixer Upper will be our last. While we are confident that this is the right choice for us, it has for sure not been an easy one to come to terms with. Our family has grown up alongside yours, and we have felt you rooting us on from the other side of the screen. How bittersweet to say goodbye to the very thing that introduced us all in the first place.”

Viewers are stunned. We have watched the couple become famous for their construction and decorating work, and have become international celebrities. The pilot aired in May 2013 and is one of HGTV’s highest-rated shows in their history.
The couple also runs Magnolia Market at the Silos, and it attracts more than 40,000 visitors each week. They have a magazine, a real estate company, sell furniture, decorations, and paint. Already with a New York Times bestselling book, their second will soon be released: “Capital Gaines: Smart Things I Learned Doing Stupid Stuff.”
They have been outspoken about their Christian views and said they wouldn’t mind if their fame and fortune ended someday. As Chip once said, “We’ve got everything that our hearts desire. I don’t see how we could be happier.”
This is indeed sad news. We wish Chip and Jo the best of luck in all of their future endeavors!
