California Dem: Aircraft Down Over Iran “Collateral Damage” of Trump

Jackie Speier Trump

Congresswoman Jackie Speier of California claimed that the aircraft that was downed over Iran was all the fault of President Trump.

“Another Example of Collateral Damage”

The aircraft, destined for Ukraine, was apparently shot down by Russian-made anti-air missiles, potentially by the Iranian government. 176 people, including 63 Canadians and 3 Brits, were killed.

Speaking to Wolf Blitzer on CNN, Speier said that as a member of the House Intelligence Committee, she had been briefed on the downing of the aircraft over Iran, but that she couldn’t comment on the specifics. She went on to say that “if what is being projected is true, this is yet another example of collateral damage from the actions that have been taken in a provocative way by the President of the United States,” blaming President Trump for the potential actions of Iran.

Trump “Reneged” on the Iran Deal, So He’s Responsible!

In a later interview with CNN, Speier doubled down on this, denying that she was “blaming the President in any way,” for the actions of Iran in shooting down the aircraft, yet still claiming that “it all emanates from the killing of Soleimani.”

“We need to remember how that all started. This has started from the time the President of the United States reneged on the nuclear deal that we had with Iran, and then imposed severe sanctions on Iran that has hurt them economically, then called the Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organisation. He keeps ramping it up, and the result is that they respond,” she told CNN. “We should be at the negotiating table trying to develop a plan for peace, trying to develop a new JCPOA if necessary, so that we don’t have Iran building nuclear weapons.”

Speier was given another chance to put the blame on Iran, but she yet again pivoted to attacking the President.

“There is no question that if in fact they’re responsible, that if the evidence supports that, they have to take responsibility. But what generated them shooting missiles in the air was the fact that they were providing vengeance or a tit-for-tat to the United States for having killed their general,” the congresswoman said.

Speier Hates the President!

Representaive Speier clearly has a problem with the President. That’s fine – he is a human being after all, and you can disagree with him on his policies or criticise him for behaving in a certain way without being a crazy person. However, Speier hates the leader of this country so much that she wants to blame him for the deaths of 176 people!

It’s also still possible to be against a war with Iran and still recognize that they are a horrible regime who do despicable acts – this is something that Speier doesn’t seem to understand. Does she really think that they started shooting down aircraft just this month? The President did not have his finger on the button that launched those missiles – the Iranians did.
