Patrons of the U.K. bookmaker ‘Ladbrokes’ are placing their bets on Hillary Clinton to win the 2020 Democratic nomination for president.
She might not be running, but wagering Brits are clearly still ‘with her.’
Matthew Shaddick, head of Ladbrokes’ political division, says the volume of bets on the former First Lady has far exceeded those for an underwhelming class of candidates facing Trump.
“We’re baffled, to be honest,” Shaddick said in an interview with Newsweek. “We’ve taken more bets on her to be the Democratic candidate than any of the other runners.”

Well look at this!
I still believe @HillaryClinton is the most qualified person to be POTUS and I believe the 2016 election was stolen from her. Needless to say, I’d be all in. #Stillwithher

Clinton’s odds actually put her in seventh at 20 to 1, outpacing committed candidates such as Cory ‘Spartacus’ Booker (D-NJ), and Beto ‘I just learned how to use the f-word’ O’Rourke (D-TX).
Imagine being these two. You’ve spent millions and exhausted countless hours campaigning and you still trail the woman who lost her bid for President … twice.

“She would be by far the worst result for us – i.e., the one we would lose most money on,” Shaddick added. “Hence, her odds have come in from 50/1 to 20/1.”
If you think that’s bad, imagine what she’d do to the American economy if she actually won and took the White House.
In 2016, Vegas oddsmakers suggested another former First Lady would be the top pick for Democrats to win the White House in 2020 – Michelle Obama.

What does it say about the current crop of contenders that Democrats are clamoring for people who don’t even want to or plan to run against Trump?
That’s not to say Clinton hasn’t been active behind the scenes – advising some Democrat candidates and teaching through example how to refuse defeat when they eventually lose.
At an event titled ‘In Defense of American Democracy,’ Hillary continued to complain about her embarrassing loss to Trump.

Hillary Clinton: “You can run the best campaign. You can have the best plans. You can get the nomination. You can win the popular vote. And you can lose the Electoral College and therefore the election for these 4 reasons. Number One: Voter suppression.”

“I’m not running, but I’m going to keep on working and speaking and standing up for what I believe,” Clinton said this past March. “I’m not going anywhere.”
Clearly, bettors in the U.K. agree with that nightmare scenario. She isn’t going anywhere. Do you think she’d actually jump into the fray at this point? We wouldn’t bet on it, but …
Less than a year ago, Hillary told a crowd of adoring fans that she’d “like to be President.”
