Former Vice President Dick Cheney had some choice words for President Barack Obama on “The Hugh Hewitt Show” on Tuesday night, calling him “the worst president we’ve ever had.”
Cheney was on the show to announce that he would be releasing a new book with his daughter, Liz, on the first of September entitled “Exceptional: Why the World Needs a Powerful America.” Clearly this is a book President Obama needs to read – and indeed, the book was written with our current president in mind.
The basic premise is that all of our previous presidents have believed in American exceptionalism, the importance of American leadership in the world and military might, but Obama is the first one to reject these values. In fact, he has actively worked against them.
Then Cheney lowers the boom:
If you had somebody as president who wanted to take America down, who wanted to fundamentally weaken our position in the world, reduce our capacity to influence events, turn our back on our allies and encourage our adversaries, it would look exactly like what Barack Obama is doing. His actions constitute, in my mind, those of the worst president we’ve ever had.
Sadly, this is exactly what we have. We have a man who doesn’t believe in true American exceptionalism – he only believes in it “just as I suspect that the Brits believe in British exceptionalism and the Greeks believe in Greek exceptionalism” – and is bent on “fundamentally transforming the United States of America.”
