Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) said she’d like to “abolish” the carceral system in the United States, saying it is designed to “trap black and brown men.”
Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) made the comments during a campaign event for far-left Ohio congressional candidate Nina Turner over the weekend.
“I want to abolish our carceral system that’s designed to trap Black and Brown men,” she told Democrat supporters at the event.
“I want justice. I want peace, and I want prosperity. That’s what I want,” she continued, stopping just short of imagining a world with lollipops and unicorns.
Understand that her comments are essentially calling for abolishing our entire current system of prisons, courts, and justice in America because of some perceived notion that they are systemically racist.
Which, by any definition to a person tethered to reality, is absolutely insane for a lawmaker to say.

AOC Calls For An End To ‘The Carceral System’
Turner is an extremist in the mold of AOC, who wants to abolish just about everything under the sun.
“Say it with me: it’s time to abolish the death penalty,” she tweeted last week.
On January 6th she wrote, “Abolish the Electoral College.”
Of President Biden, who was portraying himself as a moderate at the time, Turner, who was the co-chair of Bernie Sander’s 2020 presidential campaign said:
“It’s like saying to somebody, ‘You have a bowl of s*** in front of you, and all you’ve got to do is eat half of it instead of the whole thing.’ It’s still s***.”
Hitching her wagon to AOC and her calls to abolish the carceral system in America is no true surprise.
Turner is running to represent Ohio’s 11th congressional district in a seat vacated in March by Marcia Fudge.

AOC’s John Lennon Impression
Axios reports that Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC), as he did in the 2020 presidential contest, intervened in the Democrat primary by issuing an endorsement for Turner’s opponent, Shontel Brown.
Brown, the local Democrat Party chairwoman, is considered a moderate.
“When I spoke out against sloganeering, like ‘Burn, baby, burn’ in the 1960s and ‘defund the police,’ which I think is cutting the throats of the party, I know exactly where my constituents are,” Clyburn said, taking a shot at Turner and the Squad.
“They are against that, and I’m against that.”

Like a grade-school child who just found a thesaurus, AOC has made consistent use of the word ‘carceral’ in her calls to dismantle the justice system in America.
This past April, she described the crisis at the border as such.
“It’s not a border crisis,” she claimed. “It’s an imperialism crisis, it’s a climate crisis, it’s a trade crisis. And also it’s a carceral crisis.”

In the throes of the pandemic, Ocasio-Cortez called for criminals to be released from Rikers Island.
“One thing that we need to do right now is really hit fast forward on progressive developments and pursuing decarceral policy because people’s lives are at risk,” she stated.
“There are people in jails right now, in situations that are completely destitute and wrong.”
‘Decarceral’ incidentally, according to a former candidate in the Democratic primary for Queens County’s District Attorney in New York, means “actively oppos(ing) jailing people as a response to crime.”
That’s what she’s calling for, folks. A nation without jails even as, as The Gothamist reports, murder has increased in her city nearly 20%.
