AOC Says McAuliffe Lost To Youngkin Because They Weren’t Far-Left Enough

AOC Says McAuliffe Lost To Youngkin Because The Democrat Was Too Moderate

On Wednesday, far-left Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said that she believed the reason Terry McAuliffe lost in his gubernatorial race in Virginia to Republican Glenn Youngkin was that the Democrat was too moderate, signaling that he should have been more progressive.

McAuliffe had taken a hard-left position on some of the biggest national issues – including abortion and schools.

AOC made her comments on her Instagram.

AOC: ‘I think the results show the limits of trying to run a fully 100 percent super moderated campaign that does not excite, speak to, or energize a progressive base’

Ocasio-Cortez said the election results show the “limits” of running a “super moderated campaign.”

AOC also said the midterm election next year would be bad for her party if “nothing changes.”

“Plus on the election front, I actually think we have good news as well. I know that Virginia was a huge bummer,” she said in a video.

“And honestly, if anything, I think the results show the limits of trying to run a fully 100 percent super moderated campaign that does not excite, speak to, or energize a progressive base,” Ovasio-Cortez complained.

She added, “And frankly, we weren’t even really invited to contribute on that race.”

“So this is what it’s about,” AOC said, “mass mobilization.”

It’s hard to imagine McAuliffe running further to the left. As it was, he repeatedly and openly advocated for parents to have no say in what schools teach their children.

At one point, AOC is asked if she thinks Dems should be worried about the midterm due to McAuliffe’s defeat.

Democrats Need To Go FURTHER Left!?

“I think that we should be worried if nothing changes and if Democrats don’t learn lessons,” she explained.

The hard-left Democrat also said that moderates in her party will have to learn that there is “going to be charged discussions about race, so they need to know how to talk about it.”

Youngkin’s victory over McAuliffe was attributed by many to the Republican’s focus on making sure parents had a say in their child’s education and opposing toxic critical race theory in schools.

Republicans around the country are practically begging for the Democrats to take AOC’s advice and be even more explicit about their unpopular, very far-left-wing agenda.
