CNN was recently “awarded” four “Trumpies” by President Donald Trump for spreading fake news, and a new survey shows that many Americans agree with his assessment. According to the Gallup/Knight Foundation Survey on Trust, Media, and Democracy, only 13 percent of Americans consider CNN to be the most objective news source. By comparison, 24 percent believe Fox News is the most objective.
Unsurprisingly, the percentages vary drastically when broken down by political affiliation. Among Republicans, 60 percent say Fox is most objective, while just 3 percent of Democrats say that. Conversely, CNN is considered most objective by 21 percent of Democrats and just 4 percent of Republicans.

There’s also an age divide. Fox is considered most objective among older Americans (65+) at 35 percent, while millennials issued a surprising tie: 15 percent named both Fox and CNN as most objective.

On the other end of the spectrum, scandal-plagued NBC, The New York Times, and ABC garnered the fewest votes of confidence, with a remarkable 0 percent of Republicans saying they consider The New York Times as the most objective news source.
However, it should also be noted that, of those who took the survey, more than half (51 percent) said they could not think of an objective news source, proving that Americans are generally fed-up with and distrustful of the news media. According to the survey, 43 percent of Americans have a negative view of the media, versus 33 percent who have a positive perception.

The number of Americans who feel there is a “great deal” of political bias in news coverage is also at an all-time high of 45 percent.
