Donald Trump, in his four years as President, (and roughly 18 months as a candidate) was a consistent source of soundbites and moments in which he brutally savaged the left. Or the media. Or just about anyone.

He was practically a daily highlight reel, channeling what we were all thinking when it came to the absolute lunacy provided by Democrats and their cohorts in the media.

Before Trump came along, these kinds of insults and attacks were unheard of in the political arena.

Let’s take a look at the former President’s most savage moments over the years.

Cancels Pelosi Field Trip

In January of 2019, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wrote the President a letter attempting to shut down the State of the Union address to Congress in the midst of a government shutdown.

“Sadly, given the security concerns and unless government re-opens this week, I suggest that we work together to determine another suitable date after government has re-opened for this address,” she wrote.

Trump responded by writing a nearly duplicate letter to Pelosi informing her that an overseas trip she and Democrats had planned at the time was postponed.

“In light of the 800,000 great American workers not receiving pay, I’m sure you would agree that postponing this public relations event is totally appropriate,” Trump responded.

In an even more savage move, Trump suggested she take the trip by “flying commercial.”

It didn’t end there. He gave the order while Pelosi and her delegation were actually sitting on the bus that was waiting to transport them to the plane.

Calls Senator Ted Cruz A P****

There’s little disputing the fact that Trump is not a conventional politician. As such, some very candid remarks have come out of his mouth from time to time.

One such incident took place on the campaign trail in 2016 when then-candidate Trump echoed a supporter who called Senator Ted Cruz a “p****.”

“You know what she said? Shout it out, ’cause I don’t want to,” he told supporters at a rally in New Hampshire. “OK, you’re not allowed to say – and I never expect to hear that from you again – she said … he’s a p****.”

“That’s terrible, terrible,” a clearly amused Trump continued.

He continued by feigning a reprimand for the supporter in question.

Mocks Hillary For Collapse At 9/11 Ceremony

Trump frequently had a field day with his rival Hillary Clinton during the presidential election of 2016. Particularly when it came to her health and suspect ability to handle the rigors of the White House.

When she collapsed at a 9/11 ceremony that year, he had a field day pointing out rumored health concerns for the former First Lady.

Clinton, who was leading Trump in the polls at the time, was diagnosed with pneumonia, a fact her campaign kept hidden. As she was leaving the ceremony, Clinton slumped, fainted, and had to be propped up by security and placed inside a van.

It was a bizarre incident that would have been far less peculiar if her staff was simply upfront with Clinton’s ailment.

Trump, once the incident was in the rearview mirror, mocked Clinton relentlessly over the incident.

“Here’s a woman, she’s supposed to fight all of these different things and she can’t even make it 15 feet to her car. Give me a break,” he said. “Give me a break.”

Says Hillary Would Be In Jail

No list of savage moments would be complete without one of Trump’s most famous debate moments in which he told Clinton that if he were President she’d “be in jail.”

In the middle of the second presidential debate in 2016, Hillary suggested the Republican candidate didn’t have the “temperament” to be “in charge of the law in our country.”

Without missing a beat, Trump replied, “Because you’d be in jail.”

The audience at the debate, who had been directed to remain quiet throughout the event, erupted in applause at the comment.

In retrospect, Trump never followed through on his threat, a sincerely missed opportunity for the country.

Trump Cancels Traditional Media Events

The mainstream media consistently portrayed President Trump as the vilest human being they’d ever seen. In turn, the President would occasionally hit back with jabs of his own.

On several occasions, he canceled events that were little more than vanity projects for journalists.

In 2018, Trump canceled the White House Christmas party for the press, an annual tradition at the time.

Making it even more savage, was the fact that journalists kept threatening to boycott the event leading up to it.

President Trump just made the decision easier on them.

In multiple years, Trump announced his own boycott of the White House Correspondents Dinner. He even held competing events to take away from the media’s party.

In 2020, Trump blocked CNN reporters from attending the annual pre-State of the Union lunch.

Honorable Mention

A more recent instance of Trump being savage has emerged, when the former President last week hammered Republicans for helping pass Biden’s $1.2 trillion ‘infrastructure’ bill.

Trump delivered a speech where he berated those who crossed the aisle on the bill.

One of those Republican lawmakers – New York Representative Nicole Malliotakis – was in attendance for his speech and was reportedly left “visibly shaken” by Trump’s comments.

For all his flaws, part of Trump’s significant appeal is his regular-guy persona and the willingness to take on politicians no matter what side of the aisle they represent.
