Fans were shocked last month when the “Yellowstone” star Kevin Costner’s wife Christine Baumgartner, who he was married to for 18 years, filed for divorce. Now, new court documents have indicated that their divorce has taken a nasty turn, as Baumgartner is allegedly refusing to leave their home.

Costner’s Wife Files For Divorce

Daily Mail reported that Costner, 68, is alleging that after Baumgartner, 49, filed for divorce on May 1, the prenup that they had in place dictated that she had thirty days to move out of their home. Costner is claiming that she has yet to move out of the home because she wants to get him caught up in the “various financial demands” she has made in the weeks since they split.

Costner alleges that Baumgartner is doing this despite the fact that he has given her $1.45 million under the terms of their prenup that she can use to find a new place to live. He went on to state that he is open to making more financial arrangements with Baumgartner if she really does leave the home.

Costner and Baumgartner share three teenage children together, and the “Yellowstone” actor said in the court documents that he is amenable to “contribute as part of his child support obligations $30K per month for a rental house, and is willing to advance another $10K for her moving costs.” He also said that he is the sole owner of all three of their three homes, and that when Baumgartner signed their prenup before their 2004 wedding, she agreed to leave the homes and take her possessions if they ever divorced.

One of Costner’s homes is a 10-acre beachfront compound in Carpinteria, California that is estimated to be worth a whopping $145 million. He reportedly also owns a ranch in Aspen, Colorado. This is Costner’s second marriage and divorce, and he has four adult children on top of the three that he shares with Baumgartner.ย

Costner Didn’t Want Divorce

Costner was reportedly blindsided by Baumgartner filing for divorce.

“It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage,” his representative said at the time.

Sources later told People Magazine that Costner though the filing “was an unpleasant surprise” for the Dances With Wolvesย star, he “wasn’t shocked” by it.

“But this is not what he wanted,” one source added. “He knew that Christine was unhappy though.”

Costner’s grueling filming schedule was reportedly difficult for Baumgartner to handle.

“Christine wants them to spend family time at their Santa Barbara home,” the source explained. “During filming, Kevin is not around very much. His absence has been very hard for her.”

“Christine doesn’t want him to throw himself into another project. He has been obsessed with filming ‘Horizon’ since last year,” the insider added. “She wasn’t happy about it.”

“Horizon” is the Western epic that Costner is currently working on.

‘Yellowstone’ Ending

Days after Baumgartner filed for divorce, Daily Mail reported that the end of “Yellowstone” was announced by Chris McCarthy, president and CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios, who also announced that a sequel starring Matthew McConaughey will be replacing it.

“‘Yellowstone’ has been the cornerstone on which we have launched an entire universe of global hits โ€” from ‘1883’ to ‘Tulsa King,’ and I am confident our sequel will be another big hit, thanks to the brilliant creative mind of Taylor Sheridan [the show’s creator] and our incredible casts who bring these shows to life,” McCarthy said.

Divorce is never easy, particularly when there are children involved. For the sake of their kids, we can only hope that Costner and Baumgartner are able to get through this divorce in as amicable a way as possible.
