Whoa! Did Ilhan Omar Just Praise President Trump’s ‘Unprecedented’ Leadership?

Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar praised President Donald Trump’s “incredible” and “right response” to the coronavirus crisis, adding that we are seeing “unprecedented leadership” in America.

The normally staunch and sometimes vile critic of the president was responding to a Twitter post by The Intercept’s investigative journalist, Lee Fang.

The post notes how Trump had suspended foreclosures, was planning a cash infusion to help the American people, and had invoked the Defense Production Act as a means to get private firms to step up and produce supplies.

Omar: ‘Unprecedented Leadership’

Make no mistake, Fang’s post is meant to draw a conclusion that Trump is implementing government intervention platforms to help rescue the country from the financial ruin caused by the pandemic.

“Kind of a shell shock for anyone who reported on any economic policies in the Obama years,” he writes.

That is the aspect Omar is praising.

“Politics aside, this is incredible and the right response in this critical time,” she wrote regarding the President’s policies.

Politics Aside

Omar followed her Tweet about putting politics aside by praising leadership in this country.

Fox News is reporting that the subsequent tweet is also praise for the President, though it’s less certain as she may be praising the leadership of governors or others across the United States who have responded to the crisis.

“[Fellow Squad member Ayanna Pressley] always says, unprecedented times require unprecedented leadership and we are seeing that in our country right now,” writes Omar. “I have faith that we will survive this as a nation and build together.”

Bipartisan Praise For Trump

Omar’s positive messages join an absolute chorus of praise for President Trump coming from the most unlikely sources.

  • MSNBC host Joe Scarborough recently told viewers that Trump’s performance in combatting the spread of coronavirus had impressed him, and that “we have to do everything we can do to make sure this president succeeds.”
  • CNN anchor Dana Bash went so far as to say that Trump is the “kind of leader that people need” during this crisis.
  • California Governor Gavin Newsom praised the President’s actions noting “every single thing he said, they followed through on.”
  • New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said the administration was “on it” when it came to their coronavirus response and that the President was doing the “right thing.”

Omar Still Vile

While Omar is touting putting politics aside now, she failed to do so just hours earlier when she criticized a feel-good family message from First Daughter Ivanka Trump.

Ivanka had offered tips on how to spend time with your children during these times when everybody is being forced to stay home.

The Minnesota Democrat interjected politics by mocking the President’s daughter through criticism of family separation policies at the border.

And while we get this government intervention during an unprecedented crisis, it would behoove President Trump to remember that these are not long-term solutions.

If Ilhan Omar likes these big government actions, then it is clearly bad for the country in the long run.
