Capitol Police have reinstalled metal fencing around the U.S. Capitol this week ahead of President Biden’s upcoming State of the Union Address on Tuesday.

CBS News is reporting that the Capitol fencing, originally installed following the January 6 riot and frequently utilized for defense ever since, is being reinstalled in conjunction with the SOTU address.

They describe it as “controversial.”

“For the third year in a row, an eight-foot, black metal fence will surround the U.S. Capitol complex during an address to Congress by President Joe Biden,” they write.

“The fencing, which is plastered with signs reading ‘Area closed by order of the United States Capitol Police Board,’ has become an increasingly common and controversial security measure” since the Capitol riot.

The fencing is expected to remain in place until at least Wednesday.

Metal Fencing Returns to Keep the People Away From the Capitol

It truly is odd to see the Capitol police and lawmakers cower behind a large metal fence every time they think people might show up to protest a President who received the most popular votes in American history.

Especially when a former Defense Secretary just described the Capitol riot as little more than “a rowdy band of MAGA supporters” who were “taking selfies.”

The Capitol complex for months after the January 6 rally had been fortified with thousands of National Guard troops, surrounded by razor-wire fencing, and locked down with manned checkpoints.

Nearly two years ago, when the fencing was finally taken down, the New York Post celebrated by calling it “The People’s House once more.”

Then they put it back up for every SOTU speech since. They put it back up when protesters wanted to hold a rally to promote justice for Ashli Babbitt. They put it back up when American truckers prepared their own ‘freedom convoy’ to the nation’s capital.

They’re cowards, plain and simple.

The people naturally had some questions about the metal fencing making a return.

It Appears Walls Work … For the President’s Personal Safety

With the metal fencing making a return to the Capitol, many people were openly wondering why it was necessary, while others noted the hypocrisy.

“So, walls work?” asked a woman named Cindy.

They work. Our lawmakers know they work. It’s just that their safety is a priority, see, whereas the little people – they don’t matter.

Representative Lauren Boebert (R-CO) joked that the metal fencing was more a necessity to keep President Pudding Pop from wandering off.

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) wondered how the metal fencing was going to protect the President from say, a Chinese spy balloon.

“Joe Biden is more afraid of Americans visiting their Capitol than a Chinese Spy Balloon invading our air space that could have carried God only knows what,” she tweeted.

Conservative Pamela Hensley writes: “The most popular ‘president’ in history with 81 million ‘votes,’ is afraid of American citizens.”

An account named DC_Draino echoed those sentiments saying, “They’re building the wall around the Capitol for the SOTU of the guy who got the ‘most votes in American history.'”

Come on. Are you surprised? This is the same man who had to hide in his basement the entire presidential campaign in 2020 just to get elected. He had to hide just so people didn’t see he was a low-functioning mental patient.

The Political Insider on Monday reported that former acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller had essentially mocked lawmakers for their response to the January 6th riot.

Miller described top Democrats and Republicans as “hyperventilating into the phone” as they demanded protection at the Capitol that day.

He depicted lawmakers as “cowering like frightened children” for the world to see during the riot.

“Do I blame a bunch of geriatrics for acting like a bunch of geriatrics? Of course not. But do I judge them for it? You’re damned right I do,” he said.

The geriatrics are acting like frightened children once again.

A mother of two living in the neighborhood spoke to CBS News about the metal fencing at the Capitol.

“It’s traumatizing to our children and it sends a message that something is wrong with our country and our Capitol,” she said. “Our children are seeing this and asking their parents ‘What’s wrong? Why are we barricaded in again?'”

It’s okay for children to be traumatized outside the fence, but the children on the inside need to feel cozy, safe, and secure apparently.
