Vivek Ramaswamy Schools CNN’s Jim Acosta Over Network’s Irresponsible Donald Trump Coverage

This weekend, GOP Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy sparred with CNN’s Jim Acosta over the struggling 24/7 news network’s coverage of GOP rival former President Donald Trump.

In a back-and-forth exchange in which Mr. Acosta tried to paint Mr. Trump as diminishing the terrorist attacks against Israel last month over a statement made about imprisoned January 6 protesters, Mr. Ramaswamy deftly illustrated the hypocrisy of the left-wing news channel.

The timing of their conversation couldn’t have been better with the pro-Palestinian protest in Washington, D.C., where “peaceful protesters” vandalized monuments and businesses and attempted to scale the gates of the White House.

As usual, CNN’s Jim Acosta looked lost and defeated after this short exchange with Vivek Ramaswamy.

Only one kind of hostage

CNN’s Jim Acosta questioned Vivek Ramaswamy on his thoughts regarding former President and fellow GOP Presidential candidate hopeful Donald Trump’s remarks regarding the January 6th protesters imprisoned by the federal government.

The former President said at a campaign event in Houston, “I call them the J6 hostages, not prisoners.”

Mr. Ramaswamy told Mr. Acosta:

“I think many peaceful protesters on January 6 should absolutely not be in prison. We have a dual standard of justice in this country.”

This prompted Mr. Acosta to ask this non-related question:

“Isn’t that irresponsible to call them hostages with what’s going on in Israel right now?”

Apparently, the word “hostage” is now solely allowed to describe the over 200 taken by the Hamas terrorists on October 7 in Israel? The attempt to relate Donald Trump’s support of the January 6 protesters as equal to diminishing what happened in Israel is irresponsible in and of itself – aside from being complete and total nonsense.

Still, Mr. Ramaswamy made sure to hold a mirror up to the CNN anchor’s face.

Irresponsible coverage

Vivek Ramaswamy explained to Jim Acosta that those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones, pointing out the consistent irresponsible behavior of his news network:

“Jim, let me just be really clear about what’s irresponsible as it relates to coverage of Donald Trump.”

Mr. Ramaswamy goes on to provide two perfect examples:

“…from the Russia Trump – Russia collusion hoax that never was, to the Hunter Biden laptop story that was actually real before people before the election were told that it was false.”

Mr. Acosta didn’t have a response to these examples because of the embarrassing fact that instead of cornering Mr. Ramaswamy with a milquetoast ‘gotcha’ question, he was schooled with a classic Vivek ‘gotcha’ response.

Instead, Mr. Acosta attempted to pivot back to the January 6 protesters still sitting in prison, to which Vivek replied:

“My view is if you’re using one standard of political prosecution for somebody because they have political views different from your own, that’s not justice.”

How right Mr. Ramaswamy is, and the examples of our justice system’s duality are everywhere.

OK for some, not others

Some on the left have said that what happened on January 6 was akin to, if not worse than, the attacks on Pearl Harbor and September 11. And yet, the left is uncomfortably silent when it comes to other recent protests that have brought destruction and havoc.

This weekend, tens of thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters descended on the nation’s capital. As the day went on into the evening, monuments and places of business were vandalized with graffiti, broken glass, and Palestinian flags. 

Additionally, footage could be seen on X of protesters attempting to scale the fence of the White House and covering one of the gates with fake blood. So far, only one person has been arrested. 

During the Black Lives Matter riots that destroyed major cities, caused the death of innocent civilians, and destroyed the livelihoods of countless business owners, then-Vice President nominee Kamala Harris said:

“Nothing that we have achieved that has been about progress, in particular around civil rights, has come without a fight, and so I always am going to interpret these protests as an essential component of evolution in our country – as an essential component of a mark of a real democracy.”

It was irresponsible of Kamala Harris to say those words during the riots, and it was equally as irresponsible of CNN not to call her on it. But then again, according to CNN, those were “fiery but mostly peaceful” protests.
