U.S. Capitol Police Chief Says Congress Needs Protection With ‘Permanent’ Fence Around Capitol

Acting U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) Chief Yogananda Pittman said on Thursday that in order to protect members of Congress the United States Capitol needs a “permanent” security fence around it.

Pittman said in a statement that the Capitol building must erect a “permanent fencing” barrier for security purposes.

Physical barriers around the Capitol complex had gone up in the days leading up to Joe Biden’s inauguration on January 20th, and have remained there since.

Capitol Police Chief Wants ‘Installation Of A Permanent Perimeter Fence Around The Capitol’

The irony is not lost on many observers that Biden just halted the construction of the wall on the southern border while another wall goes up around Congress.

Pittman said in a statement, “As I noted earlier this week, even before September 11, 2001, security experts argued that more needed to be done to protect the U.S. Capitol.”

“In fact, a 2006 security assessment specifically recommended the installation of a permanent perimeter fence around the Capitol,” Pittman added.

Pittman then said permanent fencing was a “must.”

Biden Ends Construction Of Security Barriers On Our Nation’s Border

“In light of recent events, I can unequivocally say that vast improvements to the physical security infrastructure must be made to include permanent fencing, and the availability of ready, back-up forces in close proximity to the Capitol,” Pittman continued.

There has been barbwire surrounding the Capitol and other barriers have been erected in the days and weeks leading to the January 20th presidential inauguration ceremonies.

The Biden administration and Democrats have used the Capitol Hill attack on January 6 as an excuse to create such physical security measures, as well as having thousands of National Guard troops present.

When Biden ended the construction of security barriers along the U.S.-Mexico border via an executive order, the president called the construction project “a waste of money” and “not a serious policy solution.”

Is This What America – The Land Of The Free – Is Supposed To Look Like?

So the President of the United States has a problem with a barrier to keep people out of the country who try to enter illegally – but has no problem erecting barriers that make the Capitol of the country he is supposed to lead look like a military state?

This is not the country most Americans care to live in. The United States has always stood for liberty and freedom.

It should look like that too.
