A new poll has revealed that Donald Trump would beat Michelle Obama in a hypothetical 2024 election matchup if she decided to run for president later this year.
Trump Would Defeat Obama If She Runs
A Daily Mail poll of 1,000 likely voters found that Obama would lose to Trump by three points in a hypothetical match-up. This is the same margin that President Joe Biden would lose to Trump by, according to the poll.
“Some have been touting an emergency parachute for Biden for some time: draft Michelle Obama,” said pollster James Johnson, cofounder of J.L. Partners. “But it turns out voters are no more keen to vote for Michelle over Trump than they are for Biden, with Trump beating her overall and even with Independents.”
“It was never very realistic, but this poll puts paid to the idea she can be any kind of saving force for the Democrats,” he added.
Obama Refuses To Run For President
Democrats have long believed that Obama would trounce anyone if she ever decided to run for president. Many leftists were hoping that she would throw her hat in the race this year amidst concerns over Biden’s advanced age and his ability to win reelection, but Obama has always said that she has no plans to ever run for office.
“As former First Lady Michelle Obama has expressed several times over the years, she will not be running for president,’ Crystal Carson, director of communications for the former First Lady’s office, told NBC News last month. “Mrs. Obama supports President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’ re-election campaign.”

However, Obama has been open about her fears for this year’s election.
“What’s going to happen in this next election? I’m terrified about what could possibly happen, because our leaders matter,” she said back in January. “Who we select, who speaks for us, who holds that bully pulpit, it affects us in ways sometimes I think people take for granted.”
“The fact that people think that government, does it really even do anything? And I’m like, ‘Oh my God, does government do everything for us.’ And we cannot take this democracy for granted. And sometimes I worry that we do,” she continued. “Those are the things that keep me up.”
Obama’s Previous Comments On Potential Political Run
Last year, Obama told Oprah Winfrey that “politics is hard.”
“You’ve got to want it,” she said, according to The Washington Examiner. “It’s got to be in your soul because it is so important. It’s not in my soul.”
In 2019, Obama said that there is “zero chance” that she would ever run for president.
“There are so many ways to improve this country and build a better world, and I keep doing plenty of them, from working with young people to helping families lead healthier lives,” she said. “But sitting behind the desk in the Oval Office will never be one of them. It’s just not for me.”
In 2022, Obama said that she “detests” being asked if she’s going to run for president.

Given how big Obama’s ego is, however, this poll will likely come as devastating news to her. In the end, she may not be as popular as she and her fellow Democrats think that she is, so it comes as no surprise that Trump would demolish her if she ever decided to run for president!
