Attorneys for Donald Trump filed a $500 million lawsuit against his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, who is poised to be a key witness against the GOP presidential candidate in an upcoming Manhattan criminal trial.

The lawsuit contends that Cohen breached his contracts and engaged in unjust enrichment “by both revealing Plaintiff’s confidences and spreading falsehoods about Plaintiff.”

Those falsehoods were known by Cohen, according to the suit, to “likely… be embarrassing or detrimental.”

A spokesman for Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign tells CNBC that Cohen’s alleged wrongdoings “stand for themselves.”

Michael Cohen’s attorney countered that the lawsuit is “frivolous” and that former President Trump is “using and abusing the judicial system as a form of harassment and intimidation” against his client.

Cohen took to social media to declare he will “NEVER stop fighting and holding (Trump) accountable for his dirty deeds.”

And then he begged for donations through a GoFundMe page to help pay his legal fees.

“Michael’s commitment to American democracy, his fearlessness to hold truth to power, and his willingness to stand up against the dark forces of the MAGA movement come at a great cost, both emotionally and financially,” the GoFundMe introduction page hilariously reads.

“By contributing to this fundraiser, you will be sending a powerful message that we will not be silenced for telling the truth and intimidation will not be tolerated.”

Cohen’s previous quests for ‘truth’ resulted in a prison sentence for lying to Congress, tax fraud, lying to banks, and violating campaign finance laws.

Cohen’s Letter Says Trump Did NOT Reimburse Him For Stormy Daniels Payments

Critics have questioned the timing of Trump’s lawsuit, noting that Michael Cohen is poised to serve as Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s star witness in the criminal case against Trump.

Trump has been charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree, low-level felonies in New York State but which carry a potential for a 4-year prison sentence each.

He has pleaded not guilty.

Cohen, in 2018, pleaded guilty to arranging hush money payments for porn star Stormy Daniels but insists that Trump directed him to do so.

A letter surfaced last month specifically claiming Trump never reimbursed his lawyer for hush money to Daniels.

The letter, obtained by the Daily Mail, showed Cohen explicitly stating the Republican nominee for President did NOT reimburse him for hush money payments to Daniels.

“Neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign was a party to the transaction with Ms. Clifford, and neither reimbursed Mr. Cohen for the payment directly or indirectly,” the letter states.

It was written by legal counsel representing Cohen.

A source close to Trump’s legal team tells Fox News that the lawsuit against Cohen is a separate matter and “has nothing to do with the Manhattan DA’s lawless and fact-less case” against him.

The lawsuit states that his former lawyer “must be held accountable.”
