Donald Trump recorded a video message directed at some January 6 defendants, vowing to “get to the bottom” of the “weaponization” of the Department of Justice.

His comments come just days after Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) relayed that the former President and First Lady Melania are “just sick” over the way some January 6 prisoners have been pursued.

“People have been treated unconstitutionally, in my opinion, and very, very unfairly, and we’re going to get to the bottom of it,” said Trump, speaking in a video for a Thursday fundraising event for the group known as Patriot Freedom Project.

“It’s the weaponization of the Department of Justice, and we can’t let this happen in this country.”

The Patriot Freedom Project states its mission is to “provide support for those that are being held as political prisoners, along with their families and friends” who are “suffering at the hands of a weaponized justice system.”

“Our country is going – not socialist, they’ve skipped over that, they’ve skipped over socialism – our country is going Communist,” Trump added.

“We can’t let it happen. We have to stop it,” the 2024 presidential candidate continued, before predicting, “We’re going to stop it. We’re going to win.”

Trumps Are Sick Over the Way Protesters Have Been Treated

Greene, in a podcast interview with Steve Bannon, said she spoke to the Trumps recently and the former First Family are disgusted with the way the January 6 defendants have been treated.

“President Trump and Melania were both just sick over what they learned,” she said.

Some defendants being held in a DC jail have requested a transfer to Guantanamo Bay because the conditions they are being held in are so reprehensible.

Trump has insisted that he would issue pardons for some of the January 6 rioters, along with a formal apology from the federal government, should he win back the White House in 2024.

“I mean full pardons with an apology to many,” Trump told conservative radio host Wendy Bell.

“It’s very much on my mind. It’s a disgrace what they’ve done to them,” he added. “What they’ve done to these people, it’s disgraceful.”

Several Republicans have voiced opposition to Trump’s plan to pardon the rioters.

Senator Mike Rounds (R-SC) states that Trump would have the right to issue pardons but he would personally be opposed.

“If he were elected, he would have a constitutional ability to do it,” said Rounds. “I would disagree with it. I think there was insurrection and I think these folks need to be punished.”

“I was there. This was truly violent. People were injured, people were killed,” he added. “I have very little mercy for the individuals that were involved in that activity that day.”

The only person who was actually killed that day was unarmed Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt, who was shot by a Capitol Police officer. Several others died from non-violent causes.
