The silly season may already be upon us this campaign season.
A new campaign ad from Donald Trump’s team attacks Ron DeSantis over an unsubstantiated rumor from former staffers that claim the Florida Governor once ate pudding sans spoon.
The story comes tucked within a Daily Beast report from mid-March in which one staffer recalls DeSantis’ eating habits.
“He would sit in meetings and eat in front of people,” they said, “always like a starving animal who has never eaten before… getting shit everywhere.”
Two unnamed sources for the leftist tabloid also claim that once, four years ago, “DeSantis enjoyed a chocolate pudding dessert—by eating it with three of his fingers.”
A couple of observations:
These “sources” are almost certainly just Lincoln Project bullshit. This juvenile bullshit is their wheelhouse. This is where Rick Wilson lives. It’s his kink.
If he’s going to shut down deviant bullshit aimed at kids, I don’t care how he eats pudding. https://t.co/doJkorhsgD

Trump Goes After Pudding Fingers DeSantis
Trump, the current frontrunner for GOP nomination for President in 2024, did as he often does, took a mundane observation and turned it into a hilarious – if not bombastic – campaign ad.
Trump’s Super PAC – Make America Great Again, Inc. – aired the ad on both CNN and Fox News.
“Ron DeSantis loves sticking his fingers where they don’t belong … and we’re not just talking about pudding,” may go down in lore as one of the funniest campaign statements we’ve ever heard.
Those other places DeSantis allegedly like to stick his fingers?
“DeSantis has his dirty fingers all over senior entitlements, like cutting Medicare, slashing Social Security, and even raising our retirement age,” the ad contends.
“Tell Ron DeSantis to keep his pudding fingers off our money,” says the narrator. “Oh, and get this man a spoon!”

DeSantis Denies Pudding Rumors
In an interview with Piers Morgan, DeSantis was asked if he’d really eaten pudding with three fingers.
“I don’t remember ever doing that,” he responded. “Maybe when I was a kid.”
DeSantis’ trouble with Trump’s pudding ad isn’t the first time food has landed a politician into a bit of a mess.
Senator Amy Klobuchar was accused by multiple staffers of having eaten a salad with a comb.
“She pulled a comb from her bag and began eating the salad with it, according to four people familiar with the episode,” the New York Times wrote.
“Then she handed the comb to her staff member with a directive: Clean it.”
After publicly berating her employee for forgetting to grab her a fork, Amy Klobuchar ate her salad with a comb…
And then demanded the poor staffer clean the comb!

Trump ran into his own media-generated controversy surrounding foods. He was characterized as a racist for eating a taco bowl on Cinco de Mayo, and a dictator for having two scoops of ice cream.
Happy #CincoDeMayo! The best taco bowls are made in Trump Tower Grill. I love Hispanics! https://t.co/ufoTeQd8yA pic.twitter.com/k01Mc6CuDI

Trump has also been accused of eating his steak “like a damn child” – well-done and smothered in ketchup.
Latest polls show DeSantis needs to start ‘pudding’ more effort into his campaign if he expects to ‘ketchup’ to Trump anytime soon.
The latest Morning Consult poll found Trump with a whopping 33-point advantage over the Sunshine State governor.
