Donald Trump celebrated a “great meeting” with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis over the weekend and suggested his former GOP rival is now offering support to his 2024 presidential campaign.
Is this finally a ‘kumbaya’ moment for the formative Republican duo?
The Washington Post first reported on the meeting which a mutual friend brokered. They describe the meeting as “friendly.”
Trump, the presumptive GOP nominee, posted on his Truth Social media platform suggesting a collaboration of some sort may be in the works.
“I am very happy to have the full and enthusiastic support of Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida,” he writes. “We had a great meeting yesterday …”
“The conversation mostly concerned how we would work closely together to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN,” adds Trump. “Also discussed was the future of Florida, which is FANTASTIC!”

Ron DeSantis Supporting Trump
Governor Ron DeSantis meeting with and reportedly supporting former President Trump is a significant development. Trump knows he needs supporters of the Florida Governor to vote for him in November.
It is a necessary coalition of conservatives.
“I greatly appreciate Ron’s support in taking back our Country from the Worst President in the History of the United States,” Trump writes on his platform. “November 5th is a BIG DAY!”
Working closely to ‘Make America Great Again’ could very well just mean that Ron DeSantis is willing to work as a surrogate for Trump, joining him on the campaign trail or making appearances on his behalf.
On the day he ended his campaign in the Republican presidential primary, DeSantis endorsed Donald Trump for president.
Still, he made it clear he had no interest in joining the ticket and would instead focus on the Sunshine State.
“People were mentioning me. I am not doing that,” he said.

Once Rivals, Now Friends?
The rivalry between Ron DeSantis and Trump was so bitter at times during the campaign it almost seems comical.
The DeSantis campaign, which was fully responsible for his demise in the GOP primary, created a widely panned “accident tracker” to keep tabs on Trump’s activity on the trail.
The governor didn’t help his cause either. He promoted false claims that Trump “attacked” Israel and “praised” Hezbollah. He called Trump supporters “listless vessels.” And stated that Trump should have done more to stop the Capitol riot.
Trump’s campaign, meanwhile, relentlessly mocked DeSantis, even as recently as two months ago when they referred to him as a “sad little man” who will forever be remembered for “chicken fingers and pudding cups.”
But hey, if they can kiss and make up after that, anything is possible, right?
Perhaps DeSantis will reconsider his opposition to being Trump’s veep.
