In the crazy world of entertainment, it’s rare to find a marriage between two stars that is able to stand the test of time. That’s what makes the nearly 27 year marriage between the country music singers Tim McGraw and Faith Hill so special!

In a new interview, McGraw is opening up about their marriage and revealing the one promise that has kept them together all these years.

McGraw And Hill’s Marriage

“I don’t know if there’s a key. We always say we’re 27 years coming up, it’s like 96 in show business,” McGraw told Entertainment Tonight Canada. “It’s almost like dog years.”

McGraw, 56, went on to reveal the promise that he and Hill, 55, made to one another when they began their relationship.

“We just made a commitment early on, when we first decided we were getting married and having kids, that we wouldn’t just walk out the door when problems arose,” he said.

McGraw also credited the fact that he and Hill are “brutally honest” with each other with making their marriage work.

“Faith and I were going to raise our girls to be strong, independent and fierce and have their own minds and have their own opinions,” he said. “And sometimes I go, ‘Dang, do we want them to be that independent and strong?’ But yeah, we’re so proud of them.”

Though McGraw and Hill met in 1994, it wasn’t until 1996 that they actually started dating, according to Fox News. They married in October of 1996, and they went on to have three daughters together: Gracie, 26; Maggie, 25; and Audrey, 21.

McGraw And Hill’s Special Song

In another interview earlier this week, McGraw revealed the one song that makes him think of his beloved wife.

“Well, there’s one song and it’s really an instrumental, but there’s one,” he told Yahoo News. “I’m probably going to get in trouble for saying this. God, please forgive me, baby. It’s ‘Samba Pa Ti’ by Santana. It’s kind of our song.”

“My uncle told me one time — my uncle Hank, old hippie who lives in Napa Valley — he played it for me one time years ago on the road,” McGraw continued. “He loved that song too. He said, ‘I’m going to tell you something.’ He says, ‘Never make love to a woman with this song on unless you intend to marry her.’ And so I didn’t until I did. And then I did.”

McGraw also talked about what life is like at home now that their three daughters have moved out.

“It was tough at first, like the first six months. I think it’s always harder on mom when the girls go away,” McGraw said. “It was pretty tough because it was empty and the energy of the house was sort of gone. … After about six months, we sort of thought, when we got married, we had a kid right away — we had Gracie right away. And now we kind of … have our time to ourselves, and it’s kind of honeymoon time again. So, we’ve quite enjoyed it.”

‘Second Honeymoon’ Phase

That being said, he added that he and Hill are currently in their “second honeymoon” phase.

“We always like to say we’ve been married 92 years in showbiz language; it’s like dog years,” he said.

McGraw and Hill truly do seem to have a very solid and loving marriage. We should all be so lucky, and we wish them many years of happiness to come!
