The legendary band The Eagles has made the sad announcement that their next tour, which they’ve dubbed “The Long Goodbye,” will be their last.

The Eagles’ Announce Final Tour
Variety reported that after a 52 year career, The Eagles are retiring after their next tour, which begins in September and is set to run through 2025. The band – which consists of Don Henley, 75, Joe Walsh, 75, Timothy B. Schmit, 75, and Vince Gill, 65 – will play “as many shows in each market as their audience demands.”
“The Eagles have had a miraculous 52-year odyssey, performing for people all over the globe; keeping the music alive in the face of tragic losses, upheavals and setbacks of many kinds,” the band said in a statement, later adding, “We know how fortunate we are, and we are truly grateful. Our long run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed.”
“But, everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle. The official farewell tour is currently in the planning stages. We want to give all our fans a chance to see us on this final round,” they continued. “So, scheduling information will be released as dates are set. The difficulties of booking venues for multiple nights may require us to return to certain cities, depending on demand. But, we hope to see as many of you as we can, before we finish up.”
“Most importantly, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing this band and its music,” the band concluded. “At the end of the day, you are the reason we have been able to carry on for over five decades. This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on.”
The Eagles’ final tour is set to begin at Madison Square Garden in New York City on September 7. From there they will head to Boston, Denver, Atlanta and several other cities.

Deacon Frey Joining The Eagles For Tour
People Magazine reported that The Eagles will be joined on this tour by Deacon Frey, the 30 year-old son of the late great Glenn Frey, who was the lead singer for The Eagles until he died in 2016 at the age of 67. Deacon initially joined The Eagles in 2017 to take his father’s place after his death, but he left the band last year, saying that he wanted to “forge his own path.”
Since forming in 1972, the Eagles have performed over 1,000 concerts and earned six Grammy Awards. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 and received the Kennedy Center Honors in 2016. The Eagles are arguably best known for the 1976 album “Hotel California” and its eponymous title track.
“Every band has a peak, and that was ours,” drummer and vocalist Henley told Rolling Stone in 2016.
