Rep. Chip Roy of Texas said that Democrats care more about protecting China than they do about protecting American businesses.
Roy: WHO “Seems to be Complicit With China”
Speaking to Fox News, Roy said that this pandemic shows that the American people should recognize that China is “not really our friend,” and are the real “adversary” of the United States. Roy said it was “particularly troubling” that the World Health Organization “seems to be complicit with China in covering up how this virus got released,” especially given that they receive “$500 million of taxpayer dollars coming from the United States and hard-working American taxpayers.”
President Trump this week announced a temporary halt to funding the WHO for 60-90 days, given that their seemingly complicit actions with China’s government, but Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats have got very upset with this.
“The President’s halting of funding to the WHO as it leads the global fight against the coronavirus pandemic is senseless,” Pelosi said. “A weak person blames others. This decision is dangerous, illegal, and will be swiftly challenged.”
Roy stood by the President and his decision to hold the WHO accountable.
“My understanding is that these are dollars that Congress have given to the White House to deal with these kinds of things,” he argued.
“In a broader sense, the President has the latitude to make these decisions and particularly with something like this where it is involving our national security interest, clearly health is impacting our national security and we’re seeing that in real time right now,” Roy added, concluding that America should “encourage the WHO to step up and get it right,” rather than siding with “the communists in China” and “against the interests of the United States.”

Roy: Pelosi and Dems “Want to Play Politics”
He went on to say that this shows that the Democrats really don’t care about what’s in the best interests of the American people, and instead want to stick by the Chinese communists. Right now the Democrats have blocked $250 billion in payments from going towards small businesses.
“I’m talking to [small business owners] every day in my district, they are struggling for capital, hoping to try and keep their businesses alive so they can employ people and hopefully get our economy restarted again,” Roy said. “Meanwhile, Democrats want to play politics instead of actually providing the capital necessary to start businesses. We are trying to work hard to get through this pandemic, to get our economy restarted, [and] keep the American people safe.”
Roy had one big question to ask: “Why are Democrats more interested in supporting the Chinese than trying to get American businesses restarted?”
I want to know the answer to this as well, but I think I already know it.
