Surgeon General Issues Terrifying Coronavirus Warning: ‘This Week, It’s Going To Get Bad’

This is not what you want to hear.

Surgeon General Jerome Adams

Surgeon General Jerome Adams spoke out on Monday to issue a terrifying warning about the coronavirus, telling Americans that things are about to get worse this week. He also slammed those who are still not taking the threat seriously despite much of the country going on lockdown.

“I want America to understand this week, it’s going to get bad,” Adams told the TODAY Show, according to NBC News. He went on to say that the virus is continuing to spread because many people, especially the younger ones, are ignoring calls to practice social distancing.

“Right now, there are not enough people out there who are taking this seriously,” Adams said.

The surgeon general that young people in places like California are still going to beaches, and people are still going to the National Mall in Washington D.C. to view the famous cherry blossom trees despite calls to stay home. Adams explained that young people need to realize that they too can contract COVID-19, and even die from it.

“Everyone needs to act as if they have the virus right now,” he said. “So, test or no test, we need you to understand you could be spreading it to someone else. Or you could be getting it from someone else. Stay at home.”

When asked about the pressure President Donald Trump is facing to invoke the Defense Production Act and force companies to mass produce the necessary supplies to get through this outbreak, Adams said this move is not needed yet.

“Here’s the thing that people don’t understand. You don’t need to compel someone to do something they are already doing,” Adams said, citing the fact that major companies like Honeywell and Hanes are already producing large quantities of important items.

“The other important point is that we’re not going to ventilator our way out of this problem. We’re not going to treat our way out of this problem,” he concluded. “The way you stop the spread of an infectious disease like this is with mitigation measures and preventing people from getting it in the first place.”

This pandemic has brought not only America to it’s knees, but the world as a whole as well. That’s why every single American needs to listen to the experts and practice self-isolation. If all of us, including the young people, can do this for just a few weeks, we might be able to beat this pandemic once and for all.
