Supreme Court Rejects GOP Effort To Block Vote Extensions, Protests Planned If Trump ‘Interferes’ With Election

Republicans asking to block a three-day extension for counting absentee ballots in Pennsylvania were shot down for a second time on Thursday by the Supreme Court.

This means the current rule stands and there will be no court intervention before the election.

Supreme Court Justices Roberts and Kavanaugh side with liberals, Barrett sits out

On Wednesday, SCOTUS made a similar ruling on GOP attempts to block North Carolina’s extension of time to count votes, an extension put into place by the state election board.

Mailed ballots postmarked on or before Election Day must be received by 5 p.m. on Nov. 12 in order to be counted, according to the Supreme Court decision.

The three liberal justices in the majority, were joined by Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

Justices Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch and Clarence Thomas, dissented.

New Justice Amy Coney Barrett did not take part in the decision “because of the need for a prompt resolution and because she has not had time to fully review the parties’ filings,” according to court spokeswoman Kathy Arberg.

President Trump and Republicans were assuredly disappointed to not find their argument supported by Justices Barrett, Kavanaugh, and Roberts.

Of course, with Chief Justice Roberts it’s almost as if upholding Obamacare began a tradition of voting with the liberal justices.

Protesters organizing in case President Trump ‘interferes’ in the election

On the same day this SCOTUS decision was made, Thomson Reuters Foundation reported that some are planning mass protests if Trump tried to interfere in the election.

“Dozens of activist groups who claim to represent millions of Americans from both political parties plan to hit the streets next week, if President Donald Trump appears to be interfering with vote counting or manipulating poll results after Election Day,” Thomson Reuters Foundation reported.

The report continued, “The ‘Protect the Results’ coalition of over 130 groups from Planned Parenthood to Republicans for the Rule of Law, has about 400 events https://protecttheresults.com planned to date.”

“Participants are prepping to demonstrate ‘as early as the afternoon on Wednesday, November 4,” the day after Election Day, and await a SMS message,” it noted.

The left is looking to make a statement if Trump wins

Stand Up America President Sean Eldridge, who began organizing the protest coalition in June, said, “We can’t assume that Donald Trump will respect the peaceful transfer of power.”

Eldridge said “we would mobilize” if Trump tried to interfere.

Define “interfere?”

President Trump is worried about the integrity of this election, as every American should be.

But for all the effort spent trying to insinuate Republicans might tamper with votes, does it occur to the President’s critics that there are valid concerns about the Democrats doing the same thing?

This isn’t merely about “protecting the results” or the President accepting them.

It is about the left organizing to raise hell if Trump wins re-election – and especially if he wins.
