The Social Security Fairness Act, signed into law on January 5, 2025, finally scraps the unjust Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO) that slashed benefits for over 2.8 million hardworking Americans, especially public servants like teachers, firefighters, and police officers who paid into the system but got penalized for non-covered pensions.
