SCOTUS Strikes Trump's Tariffs, Leaves Refund Path Open

The Supreme Court rules 6-3 that President Trump's sweeping tariffs under the 1977 IEEPA exceed his authority, striking down duties on imports from China, the EU, India, Canada, Mexico, Vietnam, and others imposed to combat trade deficits and fentanyl trafficking. Chief Justice Roberts warns such power would let the president unilaterally hike rates to 125% or more without Congress, gutting Article I's taxing authority and opening the door to up to $175 billion in refunds for importers.
