Rep. Gonzales Quits Re-Election After Affair Admission
GOP Rep. Tony Gonzales of Texas bows out of his re-election race after admitting an affair with former aide Regina Santos-Aviles, who died by self-immolation last year. Forced into a May runoff against gun rights activist Brandon Herrera following a scandal that rocked his primary, Gonzales faced intense pressure from House Speaker Mike Johnson and GOP leadership to withdraw.
