A New York businesswoman, Sherry Xue Li, just got slapped with nine years in federal prison for a brazen $30 million scam that duped foreign investors, mostly from China, with fake promises of U.S. residency in exchange for cash. She and her partner, Lianbo Wang, pocketed millions for luxury living while illegally funneling stolen funds into American political campaigns, including $600,000 in bogus donations to a 2017 Trump fundraiser after charging investors $93,000 a head for access.
