Jesse Jackson, Civil Rights Leader, Dies at 84
Reverend Jesse Jackson, a towering figure in the civil rights movement, died on February 17, 2026, at age 84 after battling a rare neurological disorder. Born in Greenville, South Carolina, he marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Selma, was present at King's assassination in 1968, and founded Operation PUSH in 1971 to fight for Black economic opportunity through jobs and fair contracts.
