Court Rules Against Tariffs, Fight Far From Over

The Supreme Court just slapped down President Trump's sweeping tariffs on China, Canada, Mexico, and beyond, ruling 6-3 that the 1977 IEEPA law doesn't let the president impose open-ended duties without Congress. Chief Justice Roberts wrote that IEEPA's words "regulate" and "importation" don't greenlight taxing powers reserved for lawmakers under the Constitution.
