February 13, 2026·12 days ago·via Bluefield Daily Telegraph

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), led by Tarique Rahman, sweeps over 200 seats in the first general election since the 2024 ouster of Sheikh Hasina's authoritarian regime, marking a stunning return to power after decades. Rahman himself wins decisively in Dhaka-17 and Bogura-6, positioning him to become prime minister - the first man in that role in 35 years - while BNP regains historic strongholds like Bogura-7, once held by Khaleda Zia.
