Nikki Haley, former South Carolina governor and Trump UN ambassador, launched her 2024 presidential bid as the first major challenger to Donald Trump, pushing a message of fiscal responsibility, border security, and new generational leadership to refresh the GOP. She criticized Trump as thin-skinned and distracted on fiscal policy and Ukraine, while admitting he was right for his time, but her campaign fizzled after poor Super Tuesday results, leading her to suspend it in March 2024.
