An armed 21-year-old from North Carolina, Austin Tucker Martin, breached Mar-a-Lago's inner perimeter at 1:30 a.m. on February 22, 2026, carrying a shotgun and gas can near the north gate. Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw reports a deputy and two U.S. Secret Service agents ordered him to drop the items; he set down the gas can but raised the shotgun, prompting them to fire and neutralize the threat on the spot.
