The Supreme Court ruled on February 20 that President Trump's tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) are illegal, affirming Congress holds constitutional taxing authority, including tariffs. Undeterred, Trump immediately invoked Section 122 of the 1974 Trade Act, imposing a 10% global tariff on imports hours after the decision, then hiking it to the maximum 15% the next day.
