Stacey Abrams Calls Georgia Republican Senators ‘Feckless Hypocrites’ Who Will Not Help Georgians

On Tuesday, failed 2018 Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams called incumbent Georgia Republican U.S. Senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue “feckless hypocrites who rather win the election than help the people of Georgia.”

Abrams made her comments on MSNBC’s “The ReidOut.”

Abrams Nlasts GOP Senators Kelly Loeffler And David Perdue

After watching video clips of Loeffler and Perdue opposing an increase to $2,000 in direct payments for coronavirus relief and then later supporting an increase, Abrams said, “They are feckless hypocrites who rather win the election than help the people of Georgia and do their jobs.”

“They are two people who have stood by, used the pandemic to profiteer, used the pandemic as an excuse for inaction,” Abrams added.

Abrams continued to harshly criticize the incumbent Republicans, who are being challenged by Democrats Joe Osoff and Raphael Warnock in the upcoming January 5 runoff election that will decide control of the Senate.

Abrams went on, “They have assailed the very core issues that people need. You need unemployment insurance because your job is no longer there, your mortgage is owed even though you can’t work.”

She then targeted their seeming flip-flop.

“What they have done is signal clearly to Americans they have no position,” Abrams said. “They are spineless.”

“They are people who kowtow to McConnell, kowtow to Trump, which means they will not serve the people of Georgia,” she finished.

Abrams Accused Republicans Of ‘Voter Suppression’ In Georgia

On CNN Monday, Abrams said the only way Republicans could hold on to their seats in Georgia was using “voter suppression.”

CNN host Jim Sciutto said to Abrams, “I want to ask you a big picture question here because, you know, the president still denies the outcome of this election and Republicans around the country drawing on that to already begin writing up voting restrictions, right, to bring back some of the voter expansion measures we saw in this cycle, including mail-in ballots, et cetera.”

Sciutto continued, “Do you see that effort ticking up again after this cycle in state legislatures around the country where, frankly, Republicans have an enormous advantage? And, if so, what are you going to do about it?””

Abrams replied, “We’re going to do what we’ve been doing, which is we are going to work to mitigate voter suppression.”

“When we create access to the right to vote for eligible citizens, more people participate,” Abrams added.

“And Republicans do not know how to win without voter suppression as one of their tools,” she finished.
