As the Democrat Party attempts to portray Joe Biden as a successful president in the midst of record high inflation, a nationwide crime wave, and now chaos in Europe, the far-left of the party is adding one more thing they don’t need.

In addition to the traditional GOP response to the President’s State Of The Union speech, Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) will be delivering a progressive response.

The timing of Tlaib’s response is not good as Democrats try to present a united front before a midterm election that does not bode well for them.

Tlaib Response On Behalf Of Leftist Group

Tlaib, a second term Congresswoman who may be best known for calling former President Donald Trump a “mother f***er” following his election, is part of a far-left group of progressive lawmakers that have been dubbed “The Squad.”

Next week, she will be speaking on behalf of a lesser known left-leaning group called The Working Families Party.

She will no doubt be calling out Republicans and moderate Democrats for not spending more money. The Working Families Party, in a tweet stated,

“Obstructionist Republicans and corporate Democrats have forced D.C. to a standstill while millions of kids are pushed into poverty and rising costs are making housing, healthcare, and childcare even more unaffordable.”

Who Is The Working Families Party?

A perusal of the Working Families Party website tells you everything you need to know as to why Squad member Rashida Tlaib would be speaking on their behalf.

“The People’s Charter” calls for things like “repairing historic harms and end systemic racism.” That includes “shifting resources” away from police, a.k.a., defund the police, ending zoning laws, enacting universal health and child care, and last but certainly not least, taxing the rich.

The list of nationwide candidates the group endorses is also quite telling in what their agenda is as well.

In addition to Tlaib’s fellow Squad member New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, there are figures like New York Attorney General Letitia James, and Jessica Cisneros, who is challenging moderate, pro-borders Democrat Rep. Henry Cuellar in Texas.

Tlaib Hurting Not Helping…Democrats

A report from Politico states that Tlaib is more than willing to call out her fellow Democrats like Sens. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) who were opponents of Biden’s “Build Back Better” bill.

National director of the Working Families Party, Maurice Mitchell, says:

“We’re going to be clear about who and why the agenda is incomplete. There are particular political actors — of course Republicans, but then a very niche, small group of obstructionist Democrats. And we’re going to name names.”

Rashida Tlaib’s progressive response to the State of the Union may be cheered on by the very people she would not want cheerleading from. Republicans will no doubt welcome the opportunity to put the spotlight on the ever increasing divide in the Democrat Party between far left progressives like Tlaib and AOC, and the rest of the squad.

And while the majority of Democrats are seeking that unified front, progressives see pre-midterm primaries as a chance to move more far-left candidates further through the process and hopefully into Congress.
