South Park Creators Come Out As Republicans While Accepting Award From Progressive Group

There is no brand of humor off limits to this duo, so it wouldn’t be shocking if they were simply playing the crowd for a reaction.

But it was damn funny regardless …

Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators behind the foul-mouthed animated comedy “South Park,” declared to the world that they are Republicans.

“We’re Republicans,” they announced.

What made it hilarious is that they did so while accepting a “freedom” award handed out by a progressive organization and a room full of liberals.

After making their announcement, many in the crowd laughed nervously.

They repeated, “No, seriously, we’re Republicans.”

Imagine the horror that must have come over those progressive faces. Akin to the horror of seeing Kenny killed for the first time, I presume (those b***ards!).

The award was handed out by the People For the American Way (PFAW) Foundation, a progressive advocacy group which has this pop up on their website:

You mean, Republicans like … Trey Parker and Matt Stone?

In the ‘About Us’ section, PFAW explains that they are a “progressive advocacy organizations founded to fight right-wing extremism and defend constitutional values under attack.”

Stone and Parker are clearly not right-wing extremists, but having them announce being Republican in front of this group is priceless.

The pair has expressed their disdain for both Hillary Clinton and President Trump in the past calling them “the giant d**che and the turd sandwich,” never identifying which was which.

The “South Park” creators, in a wise shift from the mainstream in Hollywood, said they would avoid criticizing the President on their show in the future. In doing so, they ripped “Saturday Night Live” and CNN in one fell swoop.

“We did start to become that, though, especially the last season,” Parker said in an interview with the LA Times. “We fell into the same trap that ‘Saturday Night Live’ fell into, where it was like, ‘Dude, we’re just becoming CNN now. We’re becoming: Tune in to see what we’re going to say about Trump.’ Matt and I hated it but we got stuck in it somehow.”

Now it seems, they’re mocking progressives by scaring them as Republicans. Brilliant!
