Call me cynical, but there’s only one reason Senator Chuck Grassley, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, would do this: there’s nothing to worry about.

Sen. Grassley just announced that his Committee will be releasing the transcripts on interviews conducted with individuals involved in the infamous 2016 Trump Tower meeting between members of Trump’s family and campaign and a Russian lawyer with ostensible ties to the Russian government.

Former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon called this meeting “treasonous” and “unpatriotic.” But it looks like Grassley is ready to let the public know exactly what Congress knows about the meeting.

Via the Daily Caller:

“Now it’s time to start officially releasing the transcripts of all witness interviews we have done related to that meeting,” Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley said during a committee business meeting.

“Let’s get them out there for everyone to see.”

The Trump Tower meeting, which occurred on June 9, 2016, has been a focus of congressional investigators since it was reported on last July. Donald Trump Jr. accepted the meeting after being offered dirt on Hillary Clinton from Rob Goldstone, a music publicist and Trump family associate.

Chuck Grassley has been one of President Trump’s biggest allies in the Senate, fast-tracking many of his judicial nominations and ensuring they reach the federal bench as soon as possible.

It’s hard to see why Grassley would be doing this if it was going to put the Trump presidency in any sort of legal danger. If anything, the release of these transcripts will suggest that nothing nefarious occurred during the meeting, as Democrats have insinuated.

Democrats have been hoping for months that this meeting would prove collusion. But it appears that it only revolved around the Magnitsky Act, a bill barring American adoptions in Russia.

What do you think? Will these transcripts finally put the Russia investigation to bed? Tell us your thoughts below and share this story over Facebook now!
