Ruth Bader Ginsburg Hints at Retiring in Five Years

Ruth Bader Ginsburg retirement

President Trump is wasting no time filling the seat of the soon-to-depart Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy. His nominee, Judge Brett Kavanaugh, is beginning to gather support all throughout Congress. (RELATED: The Numbers Are In, And They’re Looking Good For Kavanaugh.)

Should Trump succeed in placing Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court, it will be his second nominee to sit on the high court. That’s a big accomplishment for any president. And, assuming Trump doesn’t win his reelection bid, the twin placements of Justice Neil Gorsuch and Kavanaugh will mean Trump will have a legacy that far outlasts his years in the White House.

But, just imagine the following: what if Trump put three justices on the Supreme Court bench? And – and this is a big “if” – what if that replaced justice is Ruth Bader Ginsburg?

Can you imagine the liberal devastation?

Well, Justice Ginsburg recently revealed that she’s thinking about hanging up her robe but not for at least five years.

Via Fox News:

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg revealed on Sunday she hopes to remain on the court’s bench for at least five more years.

“My senior colleague, Justice John Paul Stevens, he stepped down when he was 90, so think I have about at least five more years,” Ginsburg, 85, who described herself as a “flaming feminist,” said at an event in New York City, according to CNN.

Five years, huh? This couldn’t possibly be a signal to her fans that she’s holding out until Trump is out of office, right? Supreme Court justices are supposed to be impartial.

Except not. Ginsburg has never been neutral and has gotten into hot water for voicing her own opinion on political matters. Case in point: when she trashed Donald Trump as a presidential candidate and later had to apologize for doing so. So I think it’s plausible to claim that Ginsburg is sending a signal to her liberal supporters: Replace Trump with a Democrat, and I’ll retire.

There’s just one problem. That’s all the more incentive for Republicans to put Trump back in the White House. Ginsburg may have just sealed her own fate with her loose lips.
