Since her defeat in the presidential race, Kamala Harris has been lying low, spending time with family and senior aides in Hawaii before returning to Washington, D.C.

But that doesn’t mean she isn’t gearing up to get back into the political arena.

Despite her public silence, Harris has been actively instructing her advisers and allies to keep her political options open. That means the possibility of a 2028 presidential run or a bid for the governorship in California in 2026.

Aides to the Vice President indicate there is no reason to rush her next moves, asserting she is methodically plotting out a course.

“She doesn’t have to decide if she wants to run for something again in the next six months,” one former campaign worker said. “The natural thing to do would be to set up some type of entity that would give her the opportunity to travel and give speeches and preserve her political relationships.”

Harris has emphasized during private calls and even during her concession speech earlier this month that she is “staying in the fight.”

Will Kamala Harris Give It Another Shot In 2028?

Over the winter holiday season, Harris plans to explore these and other potential paths with her family, according to Politico.

If she decides against running for governor, she will need to weigh the implications of not participating in a significant race in California, where younger incumbents hold both Senate seats.

A gubernatorial run might clear the field of serious challengers for the role, given California hasn’t elected a Republican governor since Arnold Schwarzenegger nearly two decades ago.

Harris, at about 70 after two terms as governor, might see this as a capstone to her political career or a stepping stone for another presidential run in 2032.

Either way, her supporters believe she still plays a vital role in the party’s future despite her crushing defeat and the near-universal realization that she was one of the worst presidential candidates in recent history.

“There will be a desire to hear her voice, and there won’t be a vacuum for long,” one aide claimed without evidence.

Not Sure She’s Going To Rebound

Honestly, Kamala’s only option would be running for something in California. Only that state would even consider taking a chance on a career that belongs on the scrap heap but features an intellectually vapid person who spits out weird leftist talking points.

Let’s face it: with the winds of the Democrat party entirely behind her, the full support of the media, and a corrupt education system churning out mindless leftists at breakneck speed, she still couldn’t defeat … Hitler.

In the near term, Harris and her advisers are focusing on how she will reassert her role within the Democratic Party and oppose Donald Trump.

As she concludes her term as vice president, she will preside over the certification of the election she lost and attend Trump’s inauguration while contemplating her next political move.
