Representative Cori Bush (D-MO) is going to take a hit in the “street cred” department.

The “Squad” member, as part of a group of far-left anti-gun, anti-law enforcement zealots who promote “defunding” the police, has spent over $730,000 on private security since taking office.

Far more than the base-level duplicity, a detailed look into the spending exposes her as a weapons-grade-level hypocrite.

FEC records show Bush (D-MO) doled out over $380,000 to a private security firm known as Peace Security based in St. Louis. The firm has previously been reported as a right-wing private security firm that promotes the Second Amendment.

Bush will have a tough time reconciling her past commentary about the Second Amendment being an “insurrectionist view” with her obvious personal benefit from exercising the guaranteed right it provides.

She also paid $75,000 for security services from military veteran Cortney Merrits, who is her husband. Funneling money to your own family is an interesting tactic.

The ‘Squad’ Are Big Fans of Guns – As Long As They’re Used to Protect Them

Bush’s security spending is by far the most of any “Squad” member, almost three times higher than Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who spent over $272,000.

Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) spent just over $125,000, Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) $64,763, and Rep Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) forked over $20,480 on security services since taking office.

All told, “Squad” members paid over $1.2 million in security despite the fact that every member of Congress receives a taxpayer-funded detail provided by the Capitol Police.

It’s difficult to avoid the obvious hypocrisy involving a list of spending for personal security for members of Congress that are fierce advocates of stricter gun control laws and “defunding” the police.

It’s important to note that the records are tracking how they spend campaign funds. This isn’t, of course, out of their own pockets.

Imagine being a rabid anti-police loon who sends campaign cash to your local Democrat, only to find out they’re using that same money to hire law enforcement.

Bush Believes She’s Entitled To Private Security Even As She Calls To Defund The Police

Democrats’ personal security spending is fine and expected for high-profile individuals. It’s their staunch “defund the police” advocacy that makes them look pathetic.

Bush has long been a promoter of her exaggerated self-worth.

In an interview with CBS News, she argued that it’s not hypocritical to spend money on private security while trying to defund the police, telling critics to “suck it up” and suggesting any judgment of her actions means people “want her to die.”

“They would rather I die?” she hyperventilated. “You would rather me die? Is that what you want to see?”

Personally, I’d rather you just not be a raging hypocrite that exercises Constitutional rights for yourself while trying to take them away from others. Maybe you could at least give it a try.

“So suck it up,” Bush told viewers adding in nearly the same breath, “and defunding the police has to happen … We need to defund the police and put that money into social safety nets.”

Ocasio-Cortez complained when then-New York City mayor Bill de Blasio announced he had cut $1 billion from the NYPD budget.

“Defunding the police means defunding police,” she said. “It does not mean budget tricks or funny math.”

The hypocrisy of the left never ceases to amaze.
