Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) called for a boycott of Bill Maher following the entertainer’s criticism of the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement. The World Jewish Congress fired back, condemning the freshman congresswoman.
During Friday’s airing of “Real Time With Bill Maher,” the HBO star called BDS a “bulls*** purity test” for the Democrat party, “by people who want to appear woke but actually slept through history class.”
“Maybe folks should boycott his show,” Tlaib responded. “I am tired of folks discrediting a form of speech that is centered on equality and freedom.”
“This is exactly how they tried to discredit & stop the boycott to stand up against the apartheid in S. Africa,” she added. “It didn’t work then and it won’t now.”

The controversy began brewing after Tlaib was barred by Israel from visiting the West Bank due to previous support for BDS. They reversed that decision after the Democrat insisted she only wanted to visit her ailing grandmother and vowed to “respect any restrictions and not promote boycotts against Israel” during her visit.
After Israel’s concession, Tlaib turned tail and admitted the visit had nothing to do with her grandmother and refused to agree to their reasonable requests, instead calling our allies ‘racist and oppressive.’

Will She Boycott Pelosi Too?
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has referred to the BDS movement in less colorful but equally powerful language.
“We must also be vigilant against bigoted or dangerous ideologies masquerading as policy, and that includes BDS,” she told attendees of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) conference earlier this year.
“I simply declare – to be anti-Semitic is to be anti-American. It has no place in our country.”
If we apply Tlaib’s aforementioned comments to Pelosi’s criticism, she is essentially calling the Speaker a racist once again by comparing opposition to this movement to those who stood up against apartheid.

World Jewish Congress Blasts Tlaib
The World Jewish Congress (WJC) over the weekend blasted Tlaib for her “deeply disturbing” call to boycott Maher.
In a statement, the WJC said they “find it deeply disturbing that Rep. Rashida Tlaib would demonstrate disregard for freedom of speech by suggesting a boycott of Bill Maher’s HBO show.”
WJC President Ronald S. Lauder said the group “fully supports the constitutionally guaranteed right to free speech and has borne witness to the historic horrors associated with boycotts and the suppression of free speech.”
Tlaib the Anti-Semite
Of course, Pelosi is correct – Tlaib is an anti-semite. It’s not just in a vacuum either. She has exhibited time and again that she is a rabid hater of Israel and the Jewish people.
- Tlaib has said thinking of the Holocaust provides her a “calming feeling.”
- Called critics of her Holocaust distortion “racist idiots.”
- Accused pro-Israel advocates of having dual loyalty.
- Has a long history of associating with terrorists.
- Posed for photos with a campaign fundraiser who promoted anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.
Lauder hammered Tlaib for her consistent use of anti-Semitic tropes, and demanded the media start investigating her “motivation in supporting the extremist BDS Movement,” which he explains “is allied with terrorists and is not shy about its ultimate aim of destroying Israel.”
You’d think the Democrats would want their constituents to know about someone in Congress who hates a staunch American ally the way Tlaib does.
