The rapper and pop star Ne-Yo has reversed what he called his “publicist’s” apology for comments that he made over the weekend in which he blasted parents who allow their children to make “life-changing decisions” when it comes to gender transitions.

Ne-Yo Sounds Off

It all started on Sunday, when Ne-Yo, who is a father of seven children, slammed parents who allow their kids to receive puberty blockers and hormone treatments.

“Parents have almost forgotten what the role of a parent is,” Ne-Yo told Vlad TV. “It’s like, OK, if your little boy comes to you and says, ‘Daddy, I want to be a girl.’ And you just let him rock with that? You just let – he’s 5.”

“If you let this 5-year-old boy decide to eat candy all day, he’s going to do that,” he added. “Like when did it become a good idea to let a 5-year-old, let a 6-year-old, let a 12-year-old make a life-changing decision for themselves? When did that happen? Like, I don’t understand that. I don’t get that.”

The backlash from the woke left over these comments was swift, and on Monday, an apology statement was posted to Ne-Yo’s social media accounts.

“After much reflection, I’d like to express my deepest apologies to anyone that I may have hurt with my comments on parenting and gender identity,” the apology read, according to Fox News. “I’ve always been an advocate for love and inclusivity in the LGBTQI+ community, so I understand how my comments could’ve been interpreted as insensitive and offensive.”

Ne-Yo Retracks Apology

Hours after that, however, Ne-Yo took to Instagram to effectively retract this apology, explaining that he wants to clarify his position “from the horse’s mouth” and “not the publicist’s computer.”

“Listen, I normally don’t give too much of a d— about what y’all think about what I do, what you have to say about what I say, whatever,” he said. “I normally don’t care because, like I said, opinions ain’t special. Everybody got one. However, this is something I feel very strongly on, and I need y’all to hear it from the horse’s mouth, not the publicist’s computer.”

“First and foremost, I did not apologize for having an opinion on this matter,” Ne-Yo continued. “I am a 43-year-old heterosexual man raising five boys and two girls, okay? That’s my reality. If my opinion offended somebody, yeah, sure, I apologize for you being offended because that wasn’t my intention. My intention is never to offend anybody. However, I’m entitled to feel how I feel. I am absolutely entitled to feel how I feel the same way you are entitled to feel how you feel.”

Ne-Yo went on to say that while he does plan to “educate” himself on this topic, he also has  “no beef with the [LGBTQIA+] community” and only “answered the d— question.”

“If I get canceled for this, then, you know what, maybe this is a world where they don’t need a Ne-Yo no more. And I ain’t got no problem with that. I’m a hustler, alright? I’ll figure it out,” he explained. “I love everybody. Live how you want to live. Love how you want to love, but your opinion is yours. Speak your opinion as much as you d— well feel like it, because as I said, they’re not special.”

Ne-Yo ‘Will Not Be Bullied Into Apologizing’

In the caption of the video, Ne-Yo wrote that he “WILL NOT BE BULLIED INTO APOLOGIZING FOR HAVING AN OPINION. AGREEING TO DISAGREE IS NOT A DECLARATION OF WAR.”

“If one of my 7 kids were to decide that he or she wanted to be something other than what they were born as, once they’re old enough and mature enough to make that decision…so be it,” he later added. “Not gonna love em’ any less. Daddy is still Daddy and he loves you regardless. But this isn’t even a discussion until they are MENTALLY MATURE ENOUGH to have such a discussion.”

This all just goes to show that the tides may finally be turning when it comes to the issue of children transitioning genders.

We applaud Ne-Yo for having the courage to speak out against child transitioning, as it took some serious guts for a celebrity like him to go against the cancel culture mob on this topic. If only there were more celebrities out there who were willing to do the same!
