On Sunday, Sen. Rand Paul made headlines when he said he will not be getting a COVID-19 vaccine because he had already been sick with the coronavirus and believes the natural antibodies are sufficient protection.
Paul made his comments during a radio interview with host John Catsimatidis on WABC 770 AM, as reported by the New York Post.

Sen. Paul: ‘Until They Show Me Evidence”
“Until they show me evidence that people who have already had the infection are dying in large numbers or being hospitalized or getting very sick, I just made my own personal decision that I’m not getting vaccinated because I’ve already had the disease and I have natural immunity,” Sen. Paul said.
The Republican continued, “In a free country, you would think people would honor the idea that each individual would get to make the medical decision, that it wouldn’t be a big brother coming to tell me what I have to do.”
Paul received his M.D. from Duke University in 1988.
The senator then wondered how far “big brother” might go.
Senator Rand Paul saying he isn’t getting vaccinated because he has natural immunity is not anti-vax, it’s science.

Paul: ‘Big Brother’ Shouldn’t Tell Us What To Do
“Are they also going to tell me I can’t have a cheeseburger for lunch?” Paul asked. “Are they going to tell me that I have to eat carrots only and cut my calories?”
Paul added, “All that would probably be good for me, but I don’t think big brother ought to tell me to do it.”

Paul Jousted With Dr. Fauci Over Vaccinated Wearing Masks
Paul was the first known senator to contract coronavirus, testing positive in March 2020.
The libertarian-leaning senator has repeatedly pushed back on assertions from top White House doctor Anthony Fauci that even after Americans are vaccinated they still must wear masks.
For months, Fauci insisted this was the case. Last week, the CDC’s new guidelines became that if you are vaccinated you no longer have to wear a mask indoors or outdoors in most situations.
