President Trump Announces Fourth Middle East Peace Deal

President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that the countries of Israel and Morocco were normalizing relations in yet another unprecedented step toward a more stable and peaceful Middle East.

President Trump tweeted, “Another HISTORIC breakthrough today! Our two GREAT friends Israel and the Kingdom of Morocco have agreed to full diplomatic relations – a massive breakthrough for peace in the Middle East!”

President Trump also tweeted, “Today, I signed a proclamation recognizing Moroccan sovereignty over the Western Sahara.”

“Morocco’s serious, credible, and realistic autonomy proposal is the ONLY basis for a just and lasting solution for enduring peace and prosperity!”

This Is President Trump’s FOURTH Middle East Peace Deal

This agreement comes in the wake of other Middle East peace deals President Trump has brokered.

In fact, as the Associated Press noted, the Israel-Morocco deal is “the fourth Arab-Israeli agreement in four months on Thursday.”

Trump’s is cementing quite the Mideast legacy, something even many of his critics have had to concede.

But wasn’t this supposed to be impossible?

President Barack Obama’s former Secretary of State John Kerry famously said there could be no Middle East peace deals made without the Palestinians on board.

But President Trump did make such deals. FOUR times.

Not surprisingly, some called again for President Trump to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.

One Moroccan woman wrote, “As a Moroccan – this is the best news ever; it makes sense and it heralds a new era for the entire region !!!! Mazeltov everyone; great present for the Festival of Lights !!!!”

Has Any Other Modern President Accomplished So Much In The Region?

Has there been a period in modern political history where an American president has assisted Israel in normalizing relations that used to be hostile, or at least non-existent?

Certainly not during the Obama administration, where even the secretary of state thought this kind of peace was impossible in the region.

Certainly not during the George W. Bush administration, which turned the entire Middle East upside down with the disastrous Iraq War.

No, it seems Donald Trump has the unique distinction of being the president who has brought more peace to that region than most before him.

Don’t expect him to get the credit he deserves.

And who knows, there could be more similar peace deals to come.
