The Pentagon has denied a request for National Guard aid from Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser in dealing with an influx of illegal immigrants.

Bowser had previously called for “a coordinated federal response” to deal with those illegal immigrants whom she alleges are being “tricked” into boarding buses from Texas and ending up in the nation’s capital.

The Department of Defense, in a letter to the mayor, said that “after careful consideration, the Department has concluded it cannot fulfill your request” for National Guard support.

The letter goes on to suggest that Washington, D.C. has enough funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide shelter and other services to the illegal immigrants.

Bowser had complained that “local taxpayers are not picking up the tab” to support the illegal immigrants being bussed in.

Biden Denies DC Mayor’s Request for Help With Illegal Immigrants

Texas Governor Greg Abbott slammed Bowser over her request for National Guard help and suggested she take a more serious look at why he is sending illegal immigrants crossing the southern border to sanctuary cities in the first place.

“With our nation’s capital now experiencing a fraction of the disaster created by President Biden’s reckless open border policies that our state faces every single day, maybe he’ll finally do his job and secure the border,” a spokeswoman for Abbott’s office said.

Abbott’s strategy is creating quite the conundrum for mayors in liberal cities as they are forced to grapple with the problem that lax border security is causing the American people.

Though it would still be better if Texas began sending them on buses right back over the border instead.

Democrat Mayors Horrified Over Illegal Immigrants Overrunning Their Cities

Another “sanctuary city” having to deal with an influx of illegal immigrants being bussed in is New York City, where Mayor Eric Adams has said the Texas governor’s actions are “horrific.”

Adams, though, was more concerned with the fact that those aboard the bus weren’t dropped off in their destination of choice.

“This is horrific when you think about what the governor is doing,” Adams said.

“We’re finding that some of the families are on the bus that wanted to go to other locations, and they were not allowed to do so,” the mayor added.

“They were forced on the bus with the understanding that they were going to other locations that they wanted to go to, and when they tried to explain they were not allowed to do so.”

This isn’t an all-inclusive resort with a shuttle service to your destination of choice, Mr. Adams.

When a group of protesters stormed the Capitol on one particular day in January of 2021, the complex was fortified for months with thousands of National Guard troops, surrounded by razor wire fencing, and locked down with manned checkpoints.

Why not send all of those resources to the border?

Bowser, according to NBC News, plans to send an amended request to the Department of Defense, “doubling down on claims the city is overwhelmed.”
