Nancy Pelosi scolded the media for not selling a $3.5 trillion Democrat spending bill to the public, saying Americans “overwhelmingly” support it “whether they know it or not.”
Following news of a recent CBS News poll indicating just 10% know a lot of the specifics in the bill, Pelosi shifted blame from White House messaging to the media.
CBS reporter Nikole Killion asked the House Speaker if Democrats needed to do a better job of selling the plan.
“Well I think you all could do a better job of selling it, to be very frank with you,” Pelosi replied. “Every time I come here, I go through the list … It is hard to break through when you have such a comprehensive package.”
Pelosi’s comments are curious, as if she appears to believe the media should act as the a messaging arm of the Democrat Party.
Pelosi blamed her media allies Tuesday, saying out loud what top Democrats feel when it comes to their supportive press.

Pelosi Scolds Media
“It is a vast bill. It has a lot in it. And we’ll have to continue to make sure the public does,” she told reporters.
“But whether they know it or not, they overwhelmingly support it.”

During the same press conference in which she suggested Americans didn’t know what was good for them, Pelosi tried breaking down the spending bill in simpler terms.
“The Build Back Better is three baskets,” she explained before listing more than three baskets.
“It’s climate, which we spent some time talking about already – health, job security, and moral responsibility,” continued Pelosi. “It’s health care – the issues that relate to the Affordable Care Act, Medicare and Medicaid. And family care.”

Media Doing Their Best
You can’t say the media isn’t at least trying to drag the Democrat spending bill across the finish line.

Earlier this week, ABC News tried to ratchet up anger towards Senator Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ), one of only two Democrats willing to step up against the $3.5 trillion spending spree, by falsely portraying her as making a “hard turn to the right.”
Obviously voting records aren’t everything, but voting with Biden 100% of the time (per 538 tracker), including on all Biden nominees, is an unusual record for a straight-news story to describe as having taken a “hard turn to the right.”https://t.co/Z6r0P7R7h9

Whatever the reason may be for Americans not knowing what is in the multi-thousand page spending bill, it certainly can’t be incompetence from the White House. Right?
Even if a recent poll shows most don’t think the current administration is a competent one.

Pelosi’s comments are shades of her previous famous quote when it came to telling Americans that Obamacare was good for them whether they knew it or not.
“We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy,” she said at the time.
